makes 100% perfect sense.. its a no brainer - reward the adopters who are consistitanly using the platform and growing authentic real engagement - deincentivize those using it strictly for farming 

I dont really see a down side unless im missing something. I guess it comes down to how the protocol defines the two.

that's my take. it's a simple thing to trade a manual process for an automatic one. how well that works depends entirely on the new mechanic.
