A β€œlike” that has no value produces a signal that has no meaning. What if each β€œlike” assigned cost you 0.1 warps? Or cost some fractional ownership of an NFT you own? Would a tiny bit of friction be so bad if produced a better signal?

It would be an interesting mechanic if people got an allowance of likes, maybe 10 a day, with a cap of 100 or so total. It seems like that would help keep interactions balanced.

That's kind of my gut feeling, too. Something like a UBI of FID-bound likes allotted at some regular interval. Maybe each unused like expires concurrently with the next distribution of likes, such that no FID can ever have more than the amount of a single distribution, whatever that's set at for everyone.
