Heard they aren’t really actually enforcing it. Like they are saying they will but they’ll let people slide. Give em a little more scrutiny at the airport and just enough pain to scare them into getting one sooner than later Do you have one yet? I’m holding out for doge to delete delete delete it. Worst case, will use passport when I travel, and eventually I’ll give in and get one

Real ID is an effort to make state IDs as standardized as Passports. Using a passport (or the passport card) at the airport is ideal. Passports are just a hell of a lot more expensive than state IDs, so fewer people have them.

nah its creating a central database of people by slowly clawing back (1) where you can go (2) how you can get there (3) what you can use to go until you submit and β€œopt in” the value exchange is uneven to me. i get to do the same things as before but they get to get us all into a national database and have a new lever of control on us?

btw real ID = $50 + $25 fee whereas passport card = $65 + $35 (for first time applicants) so it’s a negligible price difference for what is a huge value difference imo
