May be a controversial opinion but if the Democratic Party has any hope of returning to relevance they need to put identity politics aside and focus on building solidarity for opposition to oligarchy that unites Americans of different backgrounds. I do not trust a handful of very rich people with avowed Social Darwinist views to act in the collective self-interest. But there is no meaningful opposition party presently visible and the Democrats seem as rudderless as the Republicans seem committed.

It seems to me that "identity politics" is just derogatory branding of human rights, and human rights are kind of important 🤔 Which demographics do you think we should demonize in order to attract haters to liberal causes? We chose to champion human rights, which kind of sucks in a world that now seems driven by hatred, but abandoning those principles now seems unconscionable. I'm not even a purist, I know compromise needs to be made here and there for a functioning society. 2024 elections already saw so much compromise on human rights from the DNC side. I can't imagine going farther, and feel like that would kill any of the remaining energy left in the voting base.
