Weird little idea: what if you wrote tech specs and tech docs as Jupyter notebooks? Anyone reading the notebook could fork it in browser and play around with the code. Probably better for docs than tech specs. You'd need a better commenting system on the spec use case.

Thinking about real-world crypto use cases happening RIGHT NOW, that are only possible due to crypto. I cross investing, gambling, and self referential use off this list. Bonus points if users don't care it's crypto. Two stand out: - faster international settlement - payments in countries with runaway inflation

Gonna go old man shouts at cloud mode: why do people share screenshots of code instead of copy pasting the code? It hurts searchability, copy paste. Imagine if Stackoverflow was all screenshots. Nobody would get anything done

Good thing the SVB sign up process was so slow that we went with Mercury. I think SVB accidentally ignored us when we got into YC and Mercury signed us up next day

What's going to bring the normie wave to crypto? It has to be: - cheap - fun - be easy to use I think Reddit might be the first normie success story, pending how long users engage with it. AA is promising, but Reddit just used plain seed phrases with no backup/recovery support. When does AA shine for normies?

If I had to pick just one reason to use Foundry over Hardhat, it would be that I don't brick my entire repo when I try to upgrade and my yarn.lock dependencies collectively all shit themselves. I love the Typescript language, hate the JS development ecosystem.

Interesting problem in crypto: If you offer incentives you pump your usage and distribution. Also, you attract a userbase that cares more about token prices than product. This applies less to marketplaces like Blur, etc. More to products where trading is not the main use case.

Crypto has a usability problem. It's tough for crypto natives to be secure, and it's tough for newbies to get started. Some solutions to make it friendlier for newbies give up security or add centralized single points of failure. Very important to onboard users in the right way and add security without hurting UX.

The current season of You is roasting NFT devs. Every day the culture beats me with a stick for working in web3.

Things crypto is speed running: - Finance - Governance - E-commerce (still haven't progressed to the best pricing model for biz: subscriptions) - Consumer protection (oops I pressed the wrong button and lost 100s of thousands of $$$) What else?

JavaScript API docs should include the API on the page's actual JS so I can open up the dev console and mess around.

If you're building an API or SDK, every unit test and integration test is an exercise in improving the developer experience. Testing is good. It's doubly good if you can improve your product while doing so.

Every time I hit a distributed systems problem between services in a service oriented architecture, I'm reminded how boring the average network failure problem is when you're just trying to write biz logic. At a startup you don't have enough infra to solve the problem generically, so it's always busy work.

Been thinking: how to explain the value of NFTs to those that have only seen "line goes up". The best analogue for the utility is that NFTs are like tickets or like software licenses, except more powerful. You buy an NFT and then anyone can give you on chain or off chain permissions. 1/

"We're still early" will be true until it's as easy to buy NFTs as it is to buy a book on Amazon. We launched Supercool (YC S22), which lets creators sell NFTs via credit card to users that don't have crypto or a wallet. End goal: my mom buys her first NFT 💪 Check us out! https://www.producthunt.com/posts/supercoo
