Today, I want to introduce and talk about one of my all-time favorite novels, Conversation in the Cathedral by Mario Vargas Llosa. This book masterfully depicts different schools of thought in a mind blowing narrative set in Peru during Odria's dictatorship. Through the eyes of journalist Santiago Zavala and his chance encounter with Ambrosio, his father's ex chauffeur, at a bar called the Cathedral, Llosa unravels a web of political corruption and personal disillusionment. The intricate, nonlinear narrative offers a vivid portrayal of societal decay under an oppressive regime. It's a gripping read that critiques the human condition and the impacts of authoritarianism, challenging readers to piece together its fragmented story and offering deep insights into the dark corners of political life. https://nook.social/content/1954bd2f-c124-4982-a3f5-10f2baa88031

Llosa’s critique of dictatorship and its impact on personal and collective consciousness resonates deeply with Iran’s history 💔
