I had a post go somewhat viral on Facebook yesterday. It was a "hot take" screenshot I snagged and shared while I was stoned scrolling. Sure didn't think it would end up with hundreds of comments and thousands of reacts and shares. I'm in the creator bonus program, and that post which got 600,000 impressions made $21. It wasn't *my* writing, it was just a random screenshot of a post from another platform because Facebook prioritizes memes and clickbait over thoughtful text posts. But here on Farcaster? My words, my own ideas, netted me over 10k in degen tips. Didn't need to go viral to do it, just showed up and wrote what was on my mind, had interesting conversations on other people's casts, and just generally enjoyed myself. Super easy to get hooked here. I started exploring crypto based on a "nudge" while I was in meditation pondering what I'll do with a windfall I'm expecting next year. Did not expect that to lead me to such a delightful place!

Great to see you thriving here so soon after joining, and ramping up into crypto so quickly! I've missed your smart takes and your prolific writing ever since I left FB. Glad my newsletter inspired you to check out FC and the scenius reeled you in so quickly. 😄 Economic rewards for casting can be such a compelling value prop for the long tail of freelance creators, the vast majority of whom are working their butts off elsewhere yet still getting mere scraps. I think FC should lean into this to attract more content. It's easy for the tech crowd to underestimate what a difference even small economic rewards can make in the life of the average creator. The degen tipping got started in January and it's made a difference for many of us (myself included). I think sustainable revenue streams would be a much bigger unlock than tipping, though. With theⓂ️oxie launch coming up I'm hoping we'll finally get there.

It is absolutely in a draw. It becomes almost a form of patronage, and that's particularly appealing to creatives. A place I can just share what I create, and *people* decide if they like it, not an algorithm based on how many ads can be paired with a piece of content. I've joked for awhile now that more and more, creating and curating on Facebook feels like I'm going to the "meme mines" everyday. At least here, the mining has financial rewards. They might start small, but growth is always possible.
