Over the last few weeks I've migrated all my current projects into Obsidian. 

13+ years of work is now fully imported from Scrivener, Notion, Readwise Reader, Patreon, and Substack. 

Glorious. So much newly freed-up headspace! Feels like my creativity has leveled up by at least an order of magnitude. (!) 

In fact, there's a New Creative Thing currently taking shape. Well, not *entirely* new, but... well, also kinda new. Apparently it was waiting in the wings until I had the right sort of headspace to go there? Don't ask me, I just work here... lol.

Too early to say more, but it feels weighty. Significant. Like something beautiful just dropped into my lap unbidden... but only *after* I gave up looking for it and turned my attention elsewhere. 

Weird how that works.

We'll see what's next, but for now, I owe @wanderloots.eth another thank you for continuing to gently nudge me about Obsidian even while I dragged my feet. 🙏

So many great plugins. I have like 20 community plugins installed already.

My only regret is that I didn't make the switch to Obsidian sooner.

Obsidian's friggin awesome, use it for everything now. There's this great AI chat plugin that reads your notes and gives you responses based on what's in your vault. It's been perfect for shadow work.

Depends on where you want to import from. I used the Importer community plugin.

For Readwise Reader, there's a separate official plugin that worked great for me. I found the Notion imports pretty easy too. 

I'll drop Cal's video here as a general guide. (He also covers working with LLMs in Obsidian in a separate video).

The Scrivener material took much, much longer because I had to do it manually. Probably 80% of the time I spent on the export/import process was for Scrivener alone. I've used it as my primary writing software since 2012, so there was a lot to deal with. I had to export as HTML (not markdown) to preserve all the formatting.

I also had to sort and rearrange a lot of folders because I got a lot of error messages and found a bunch of quirks. For example, Scrivener wouldn't export any folders nested more than one level deep.

But if you don't use Scrivener you may have an easier time of it.

I'm definitely a discover new knowledge nerd. Apps like that are like crack cocaine to me. Can get lost in them for hours. Days. Weeks. 

So I have to be very careful, lest I get into a time-sink that takes attention away from what I know I need to focus on right now.

Thank you, though! Hope you find a way to make Obsidian work for you. I'm obsessed with it now.
