Is this new? ENM and Shadows of Mind is from like 1996/98. I read it as an undergrad.

very cool, hadn't seen Emperors New Mind before but will read. you might like some of the Santa Fe Inst books about computation/information/ how complex systems form

This one mainly, but generally all their books are awesome (but very dense, takes a while to get through a chapter)
