100%. Farcaster is on the leading edge of this stuff tbh (even with a sign up fee).

Here's a fun thing to try with the MMDF: - Require a $50 allowance/stake on behalf of a user. - If they are marked as abusive, slash the stake. - MMDF allows a user to share their stake, so good users can invite more (backed by the same stake), but would be kicked by any of them behaving badly. gator.metamask.io

The UX could be presented as putting your hand in the box before you're allowed to pass.

Interesting take. We took a different approach at UTU. We built a wide open on-chain attestation mechanism with with stakeable, non-tradable reputation tokens that generate a reward/penalty based on the outcomes your endorsements and feedback generate for others, rewards pay out in both the reputation token and a tradeable ERC20. We curate by social connections so you only see the reviews/content of your personal multi-platform network (whichever networks you choose to link). Our forthcoming snap means such content will be available and delivered to users just in time, at the moment when users are about to interact with tokens, dapps, and wallets.
