Im a super optimist. And I say this in the most optimistic way.

Society, globally, was built against the human species for the last 2+ decades. It’s really a travesty. 

It presents the largest opportunity since the renaissance.

What’s making you so optimistic for the future?

As a fellow optimist I feel my energy heading in the other direction.

I definitely grew most when I left a life of hard-earned relative comfort to start essentially from scratch again. 

In that period I experienced epiphanies, moved constantly, had an enormous amount of serendipity, was able to connect with the world in a beautiful way. It led to the creation of things that inspired not just myself, but ostensibly a lot of others. I had very little materially speaking, but was rich in hope, optimism, connection and many other somewhat intangible things.

I need to reflect more deeply on why my optimism is now declining; it's partly now being part of different communities, being in more fixed spaces, higher level conversations and seeing the direction of travel, witnessing previously undesirable speculative scenarios become hard realities. 

Interested in how you correlate the weak-weak strong-strong meme to your own experiences and the meta reality. The meme somehow makes sense as a snapshot, but in reality it's all multitudes of contexts and subjectivity.

When have you grown most, In hard times or good times? (I ask this with genuine interest in your answer)

I’ve spent most of my life in a complacent setting, growing very little. The last 2yrs, as a founder, I’ve had some of the hardest years of my life (professionally and personally), and I  have grown more in positive-sum ways than any other year before. I think this “signal” scales from local systems to global systems. 

I believe this is the essence of the weak-times make weak-man etc. meme.
