random questions: why do we still treat emails like snail mail letters, like using traditional greetings and sign-offs? also why do so many people write in all lowercase (myself sometimes) β laziness? comes across as softer?

They literally are digital letters, it's more of a official communication channel rather than casual messaging. Don't know about lowercase writing tho. Maybe making emails less official.
