There was a thesis last year that FC needed more beef to grow Well, after posting some content lately that led to USDA Choice Beef, I’ve realized that I don’t personally like beefing As a result, I have a few options: 1) self-censor and avoid posting certain content that creates polarity 2) lean into it, be more polarizing and begin using the mute + block functionality more liberally 3) invest more time into figuring out how to continue posting about certain topics, in a way that elicits less of an emotional response I think I’m going to try doing a combination of 1) and 3) Option 2 feels like a bummer because this network has felt like a digital community where people for the most part respect each other and can share whatever they want without fear of vitriol As it grows, it might become less respectful and less about human connection. But I don’t want to encourage it in that direction by leaning into the aggressive behavior prematurely

I like the idea of separating social media from ‘debate’ media. Taiwan has taken an interesting approach to this, I can’t find the link but someone compared Twitter/Facebook to a nightclub - why would you want to host a town hall meeting in a night club? You’d be better off making a purpose built area for debate and civic dialogue. Then you can still have the nightclub too. Unless I misinterpreted what you mean by beef, lol https://info.vtaiwan.tw/
