Picking up the last supplies today, and we are heading out to the frontlines on Sunday 🥹🙏⛑️ Our partner nonprofit just finished their fundraiser and got all their supplies too, so we are all ready now. I’m so happy we can team up like this. These frontline deliveries are dangerous and difficult to plan, that’s why we are taking one car, loading it up and making a single trip over several days. This allows us to reach every location on our list for multiple nonprofits in one go. It’s much more efficient, and in my eyes, safer too, with fewer opportunities for russians to target multiple vehicles.

Didn’t sleep most of the night because of the increased missile threat and russian missiles cruising nearby, then ended up sleeping during the day. Now it’s 2 pm, I feel like a zombie, and my whole schedule for today is messed up 😓🫠🧟‍♂️

The work continues. On top of that, coordinating everything takes time. We’ll be heading out to the frontlines for two full days, which means we’ll need to spend a night somewhere, and as you can imagine, the options for safe places are very limited. Picking a meet-up/drop-off locations is another pain in the ass because conditions change all the damn time. Today, one of the places we’re going - usually considered relatively decent in terms of aid worker safety, since there aren’t as many russian drones flying around - was hit hard with guided aerial bombs. So literally impossible to predict anything 🌚

Cool art project at the Lviv train station: ‘Instrument’ by Ukrainian artist and sculptor Zhanna Kadyrova. It’s a unique organ with pipes made from the fragments of russian missiles. Both Ukrainian musicians and musicians from Sweden, Norway, and Georgia will perform original programs every weekend. 🎶

The reality of war: instead of meeting up with people who inspire you, you visit their burial sites at cemeteries 🥺🇺🇦 The last time I spoke with Iryna was to ask what supplies @crystalhearts could provide to her medical team before the russians killed her. She had a bright future and an amazing career ahead of her, but now she is forever 25 years old. We have many mutual friends who are still grieving; her absence is deeply felt by everyone. Got to visit today right before I left Lviv. She was a true hero and that’s not a word used lightly, Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree awarding Iryna “Cheka” Tsybukh the title of Hero of Ukraine, posthumously ❤️‍🩹🫂

There was an air raid alert in several regions earlier due to a ballistic missile threat… then the news came out. russians targeted a residential area with a playground in Kryvyi Rih using a ballistic missile. 14 people are dead, 6 of them confirmed to be children, and over 50 are injured (including more children). It’s actually crazy to observe how russia’s and Israel’s propaganda is always so wildly similar, and the justifications for murdering civilians and children are nearly identical, like they’re coming from the exact same place. Yesterday, Israel hit a school in Gaza and killed a bunch of civilians sheltering there, including kids. Of course, the occupation forces justified it by lying that they were targeting “militants” and their “command center.” Now guess how russia justified targeting a playground and killing a bunch of civilians, including children? I just went and double checked russian outlets just to make sure (but I didn’t have to, it’s literally always the same). They said that they targeted “a meeting of Ukrainian military commanders and their Western instructors and killed 85 officers”. I guess those dead children were foreign military instructors 🤡

it’s 1 a.m. and russian drones are cruising around nearby. 🤬😤 just a regular nightly terror from our neighbors. I’m sharing this so people understand that this is happening every day and night, and barely any of it makes the news anymore, so many people have the illusion that there’s some kind of movement toward a potential ceasefire on the russian side, but every day they prove they want to keep killing and occupying more cities.

We got to spend the whole morning with Eddy at the Superhumans Center. Today is a big day for him as he starts his physical therapy and is on the road to getting a prosthetic arm and leg within the next weeks. He is incredibly strong and already ready to continue his volunteer and advocacy work 🙏🫂 The attack on Eddy and the evacuation vehicle he and other aid workers were using to evacuate civilians from the frontline cities is a clear example of one of countless russian war crimes. It was fully documented (the moment of the attack was captured on the volunteers’ GoPro cameras) and it goes against the Geneva Conventions, which prohibit attacking medical or evacuation vehicles, deliberate targeting of their evacuation car by a drone is a violation of international humanitarian law.

I was so impressed today while visiting the Superhumans Center just outside of Lviv. They’re doing incredible work helping those injured in the war - military, civilians (both adults and children) and aid workers 🥹🫂🇺🇦 They provide rehabilitation, PTSD treatment, reconstructive surgeries, prosthetics (they have in-house production of prostheses), physical therapy, and so much more. In addition to individual and corporate donors, Superhumans is also funded and supported by the Howard G. Buffett Foundation and Richard Branson’s foundation, Virgin Unite. Huge respect to them for making this happen and helping fund such an amazing place ❤️‍🩹✊
