It would be cool to have a robust onchain derivatives market over ETH L1 gas fees. Lots of use cases there. L2 sequencers could be big users, and any business that needs to transact regularly on L1. Someday.

Great write up on DOJ’s opposition to Roman Storm’s motion to dismiss in the Tornado Cash case. DOJ flagrantly relies on strawman arguments & factual mischaracterizations. Its use of the phrase “defendant’s amici” betrays a broad antagonism toward privacy advocates. @fund-defi always does great work.

Another bit of news not getting much attn: The REPO Act, passed by the House Friday alongside foreign aid and the TikTok ban, authorizes Biden to seize Russian funds held at U.S. institutions and hand them to Ukraine. Crypto folk have known for a while the USD is not permissionless. It doesn’t matter until it does.
