Coconut palm (lat. Cócos nucífera) is a plant of the Palm family (Areco); the only species of the genus Cocos. There is an opinion that the scientific name of the genus comes from the Portuguese word coco ("monkey") and is given because of the spots on the nut that make it look like a monkey's face. It is more likely that the name is based on Latin. coccum ("bone"), Dr.-Greek. κοκκος ("grain"), cf. coccolithophorids, while the Portuguese coco as the name of the coconut palm is not related to the word coco ("monkey") and comes from Lat. coccum The word entered the Russian language through French and/or German. The species name nucífera comes from the Latin words nux ("nut") and ferre ("carry")

Venus flytrap is a species of carnivorous plants from the monotypic genus Dionea of the Rosyankovy family. Plants of swampy areas of the eastern coast of the United States of America (North and South Carolina). The Venus flytrap catches its victims (insects, arachnids, tailless amphibians) with the help of a specialized catching apparatus formed from the marginal parts of leaves. The snapping of the trap is initiated by thin trigger (sensitive) hairs on the surface of the leaves. To snap the catching device, it is necessary to exert a mechanical effect on at least two hairs on the leaf with an interval of no more than 20 seconds. Such selectivity provides protection against accidental slamming in response to falling objects that do not have nutritional value (raindrops, debris, etc.). Moreover, digestion begins at least after five-fold stimulation of sensitive hairs.

Found in a tomb in Hubei, China in 1965, the sword of Goujian is a relic that dates back to a time between 771 and 403 BC. It belonged to Goujian, a famous emperor who apparently took back his kingdom a decade after it fell to a neighboring state. Upon it’s discovery, archaeologists were shocked to find that even though it had been in the tomb for thousands of years, there was no trace of serious wear on the blade which was still very sharp. In addition, there was no tarnish or rust on it which is especially odd considering it’s made up of tin and copper and the crypt was soaked in water from the Zhang River the entire time. Today, it rests in the Hubei Provincial Museum still sharp.

The khopesh is an ancient Egyptian weapon that evolved from a ceremonial or agricultural tool into a distinctive curved sword. Its blade typically features a sickle-shaped curve with the edge on the convex side, making it well-suited for slashing and hooking attacks. The khopesh was used from the early Bronze Age (around 2500 BCE) through to the Iron Age in Egypt and neighboring regions. It symbolized status and power and was often depicted in Egyptian art wielded by pharaohs and warriors alike. The khopesh remains a fascinating artifact, reflecting the martial prowess and cultural significance of ancient Egypt.
