The crested pineapple, or the true pineapple, or the large-crested pineapple is a perennial herbaceous plant, a species of the genus Ananas of the Bromeliaceae family. Pineapple is represented in culture by a large variety of varieties not only in South America, where representatives of the genus Ananas grow, but also in all tropical countries of the globe.
