It also feels really weird to be so present on a network going through such an eb and flow of finding its first cohort of 1M sticky users. There was never a period of time when I first started using social media apps (FB, Twitter, IG) where there wasn't an endless sea of people to tap in with. FC is in this weird place where a lot of people came, tried it a few times, and then left. Usage feels extremely correlated to the price of the biggest tokens that stemmed out of the network and it creates this weird feeling like it's empty when in reality its not. Hard to describe in words but there's a psychological impact on engagement rn that feels tough to break out of.

The impact on engagement is directly correlated to price, as you said I’m wondering where folks like Jack Butcher went, or if Beeple will ever be present here - hasn’t broken through to “mainstream” CT folks enough, unfortunately. Lots of murmurs about how to incentivize CT folks to “leave” and come to FC, but little movement. Our stubbornness to leave Base/FC is equal to that of Solana manlets’ unwillingness to leave their little cozy corner of X. I feel like a large X-based rugging by Elon would need to take place to move the needle in this regard Looking at @vocdoni as a great example of a FC native startup that has broken beyond casino games we all know and love. Any other? Coop Recs is honestly a great example too though

agree on observable correlations overall. not withstanding some eb & flow my engagement since Jan has been fairly consistent and seems immune to price volatility. But that"s maybe bc I am here to learn & build sth. besides scene coin picking. If your are just into that SOL/X is probably better.

it comes down to what holds people down. when you're building something genuine and real. it's hard to get people that are addicted to the toxicity, fake lifestyle and need for internet validation about their life to stick. yes we need more people but how do we make them stay when they were exposed to the toxic internet life very early and got addicted to it? these are the questions that needs solutions, but i'm just a nobody with an opinion. and i can only speak for myself.

I remember when we were producing shows in Austin TX in the early nineties right in the early days of SXSW. Half of downtown was still vacant, but we would have streaks of a week or 10 days where we could do no wrong. New band called Sublime, why not. This guitar player named Chris Thomas King, sure. Black Uhuru passing thru on an off night, OK! Then nothing for 2 weeks. I have looked over Farcaster and all the different levels, and it is pretty much the same thing. There is an incredible wealth of talent and very small networks bubbling under the surface. So it is the early days, and ultimately, time will tell for sure, but for now, it is all about mindset, creativity, fundamentals, and patience. 7 years from now, it will seem a bit of a daze, but it will be remembered as the time of your life.

In my opinion FC is still a still niche social network for crypto users for now. And despite the great growth of cryptocurrency in general, in fact, we have not yet passed the main stage of adoption, and therefore we still have a fairly narrow circle of those who would be interested in it. And those who are in the crypto space will most likely see FC as a way to make money. But I've used a couple of other social networks aimed at the crypto community before and they were terrible. What I like about FC is that it's really cool even if we don't take into account everything related to cryptocurrency, and that's what made me stay and I think a lot of people don't know that.

So far it seems to me a place where building and engaging in community is bigger than a quick buck. So ofc there will be some turnover of the ingenuine quicky kind.

What’s mind boggling to me is why people leave fc to begin with.. You can literally monetize here just by showing up. No followers needed.. I know of no other platform where that happens, so I’m a bit perplexed as to why ppl leave + why the rest of the world has not caught on yet. if you’re gonna be on social media all day anyway, might as well get paid for it - that’s just my philosophy..

Imo it’s 1: the market is destroyed and everyone got rekt holding degen. Massive massive losses across FC and the only people still around are terminally online or didn’t trade this cycle 2: lack of news breaking on this network vs twitter and lack of major thought piece content (still lives on Twitter) I think the it’s just a time issue. FC needs to go heads down and build the next 5 features and hone in on the fact that you can’t be censored or have your account taken. That’s going to be the main driver of adoption other than content imo

How much marketing did those apps do early on? (I know that’s been a hot topic lately) I was an early adopter of “The Facebook”, as my college was one of the first to have access on the west coast. I don’t recall any marketing though; it was all word of mouth. At the time though, the only other platform was MySpace. Twitter and IG brought something new/unique to the table. To the normal everyday, non-crypto user, FC brings what exactly? That’s what the team needs to focus on…

tbh I may have even less engagement on twitter or instagram where there is that vast public so I can stick to this engagement. Psicologically is harder to be in the other apps than here for me

I do hope they come back tho… I’m not gonna lie..I miss the old days here on FC…even with the bots and everything 😅, but the changes were necessary for the development of FC, things were kind of getting out of hand 😂…..anyways, we just have to adapt and enjoy our time here …that’s just it honestly

The money incentives One thing we can agree on is how FC is building something that hasn't been done in other social apps before As it is, majorly crypto mfers are here and of course make money A lot of mistakes are still expected though But the build is different
