I disagree.

If it was pay to play the quality of the winners would be much lower.

There's no denying it has less impact than in the past but to say they're begging people is a big overstatement for what to mean looks like a very high signal list of people who worked hard on their relationships to get selected.

Because you can pay to get on it and they're practically begging people to be on it these days. Just another dying institution that is struggling to survive

I've seen this too but I think this is a very small % of people and most people on the list are very driven and competent.

Plus making lists like these are never easy and require a ton of coordination and effort to get right

almost anyone can get into 30u30 given a friend of a friend who was on there recommends you + you are willing to pay. Btw there is way more than one 30u30 list yearly. Also, there's wayyyy more than 30 people in that list.
