Self sufficiency / homesteading / DIY building. Being your own farm & energy supplier is as important to me as being your own bank.

I’m not sure. There are a bunch of decent subreddits (r/homesteading) (r/SelfSufficiency) - any better suggestions @coolbeans1r.eth ?

I do not hang out on online forums. I literally do not use reddit. The best homesteading content is on YouTube IMO. I do not like homesteading for the most part as there is a huge subset of that group of people who are preppers and nut jobs. I am more involved with Bioregionalism and SolarPunk ideas which aren't pushing for traditional homesteading but instead for community building at all levels.

Great points! I like to spectate in groups that are adjacent to farming for a lot of reasons. There’s often great discussions around preservation of food which is a big challenge once you’ve grown or bartered for it. A frequent topic in all of these communities is how important it is to have good relationships with your neighbors. Even those dedicated to it as a practice recognize the importance of community and how there’s virtually nobody who’s truly self sufficient.
