This was my big gripe with the 23andme hype back in the day - genes are rarely a 1:1 genotype to phenotype there is still so much we need to learn about epigenetics among other things...

It’s fascinating, to your point about epigenetics one theory about this alz guy in the story is that because he spent huge portion of his life in like, Navy boiler rooms sweating his butt off in a super hot environment —- that consistent exposure to heat might have affected the way the gene expresses in him and be saving him today
