It's been a while since I went on a threadoor moment. Here's the spicy take: @balajis.eth is right. But what he's off about is the endgame. Here's the Cassie crystal ball tea 🔮🍵 and you can bet it comes back full circle to my grander theory of crypto. We're going to start from right now, and work forward 40 years.

The Cassie/Balaji/Arthur thesis seems predicated on two things: - BTC is not financialized (i.e. the price is not driven by fiat-backed speculation) - BTC will be the preferred “outside money” if the USD has hyperinflation. IMO the first point is incorrect and the second is an open question.

Bitcoiners also get the 1930s gold restriction narrative backwards - the result of EO6102 and the Gold Reserve Act was that foreign governments *dumped* gold into the US (US gold reserves tripled!) despite export restrictions, which was the express purpose of those laws.
