It's been an absolutely stellar year for metal releases. Some of my favorites emerging as AOTY frontrunners: Ulcerate - Cutting the Throat of God Blood Incantation - Absolute Elsewhere Honorable Mentions to 200 Stab Wounds, Necrot, Black Dahlia Murder, Undeath, Ripped to Shreds, Hulder, Civerous who all released great albums And we still have releases from Opeth, Oranssi Pazuzu, Gaerea, and more to go! I listen to much different genres, but agree that this has been the best year for metal in quite some time. 1. Azure - Fym 2. Sonata Arctica - Clear Cold Beyond 3. Caligula’s Horse - Charcoal Grace 4. Myrath - Karma 5. Leprous - Atonement If we want to count EPs, I’d probably have Artificial Language’s EP as my #2. It’s that good.
