There’s a big debate in 
health land right now over whether or not oncologists do enough to prevent cancer (by encouraging healthy eating, exercise, etc). RFK ally Calley Means is running around telling people “don’t trust your oncologist” and insinuating these doctors conspire to keep you sick, don’t focus enough on disease prevention https://x.com/calleymeans/status/1877771880184115395

Meanwhile, more quietly, the issue of what preventative care is legally mandated to be covered by insurance is headed to the Supreme Court 

Fight has been in courts for years; Christian groups upset they were mandated to cover PrEP and contraception methods like the morning after pill 

I understand and empathize with the controversy around this medication, but also see how this can quickly turn into a situation where the baby is thrown out with the bathwater and people are unable to receive preventative care like cancer screenings (1/3)

One unfortunate thing here is like …. 

The world is so complex but the way everything demands your attention requires that complexity to be distilled down and then often rage-bait-ified

This leads people to serious misunderstandings that are incredibly hard to correct

This article was shared in the BRCA gene (breast cancer risk gene) support subreddit. OP insinuates that this litigation threatens BRCA surveillance care and prophylactic surgeries 

It absolutely does not. Mammograms aren’t even on the list being debated! To say nothing of the mastectomy/hysterectomy surgeries she alludes to. There is no bearing to BRCA at all.

But to learn this, you need to read the article AS WELL AS reference the ACA guidelines — it’s cognitive load, it’s work! 

And by the time I get to this, plenty of people have already been fear mongered, have a position, are upset. I tried to leave a comment and now I’m depressed no one seems to be reading 

And this doesn’t even get into the incentive to LIE

I think I have to let it go. But this can’t be good
