here's one where i share how to *overcome feeling like a n00b* (which is apt for a first video in the channel) based on working with hundreds of writers, entrepreneurs, and creatives

When I encountered this situation, and what I've told my friends that's been helpful as well, is to perceive yourself as who you truly are, which is an expert. By that, I mean, we are by definition interdisciplinary experts because we have lived our lives and come to an impasse where we want to do something new and challenging. It turns out that is putting out content and living a creative life. Of course, we're going to feel like we're a beginner, but because we are melding our previous experiences with the current one, we are by de facto experts in this intersection.

I've also encountered this when I was a research scientist. The best work, the ones that get published in the top journals, tend to be interdisciplinary. It tends to be collaborators who are from different areas of science who have discovered something new together that in a way is not really novel if perceived through their individual fields. But because they're able to put their expertise together, it becomes new knowledge for the world. That then becomes something that's really publishable and appreciated by scientists worldwide.

So keep in mind that the next time you feel like you're a beginner, re-evaluate that and consider the fact that you have been an expert in your life. Of course, there are some nuances to that. We don't want to claim expertise where there is none, in the sense of objective truths or situations you're unsure about. Listen to that; it's your mind and body telling you to be cautious. However, the precision of your words helps you to shape the parameters with which you are sharing your expertise. We need to practice doing that even in our self-talk or when we're sharing with friends about what we're up to.

Lastly, in Zen Buddhism, there is often this concept of a beginner's mind being actually the best state because we are able to appreciate what an expert can no longer see. So I think that's another reason why there's no shame in being a beginner. In fact, it is great because you're seeing things that people who've been in the field for longer just can't see. I've helped hundreds of entrepreneurs, writers, and creatives with putting out their best work. Of course, many of us go through a period of time where we are new to the craft. We may be new to the practice of putting out content, of writing, and it is hard. You feel like you're a novice in the space, and it produces a lot of resistance and decreases our creative output, which is the amount of practice we would need in order to get to our best work.
