Anyone get on perspectives on local coins? as in having a erc-20 for my town?

I don't know where to start looking or thinking about this. Is it an idea with any potential? Anyone working on it?

But check other online places. There have been several experiments with local currency. Not onchain, I think, but community initiatives to either suporr local businesses or help those who struggle.
