Just rewatched my 2023 bogota devcon talk on hypercomplexity and it’s interesting how a lot of it explicitly foreshadows the current d/acc conversation, though I took care to underline that my hypercomplexity model is not a flavor of accelerationism. It also prefigures a lot of the ideas landscape SoP has since mapped out much better. This is like the blurry photos of Pluto from before the new horizons mission supplied better ones. I hope I get a chance to do an updated version of this talk soon. I have a lot more to say, and several pieces of this have been significantly revised. But I’m surprised how well the big ideas still track and the main contours remain unchanged.
