Tipping is so confusing these days in the states. A suggested 20% for everything you buy off of a POS system service related seems to be the right thing to do, but how does everyone feel about it. Personally I think service from a quality standpoint is at an all time low. Curious to see what you all think.

There's a lot of places where in the past I wouldn't have tipped but now am prompted too. E.g. baseball stand beer provider, I heard him explain the tipping options to a buyer. 

I tip 20% full service; 10% fast casual, $1 for coffees/cappuccinos

I'm tired of the choice and would prefer gratuity added at this point

Yeah, it would likely make me skip restaurants knowing with added gratuity != a good value.
In Chicago, sales tax is 10.25% so my only hesitation with baking in the tip price is now I'm adding even more tax on top. 
If they could put tax and tip into the cost, and what I see is what I pay that'd be 👨‍🍳😘🤌

I don't think there is a one size fits all answer in regards to amounts unless it was to remove the option and just work it in to the initial cost. I see a fast casual spot in LA like Gjusta that add 20% service fee regardless of dine-in/ take out and logistically the restaurant doesnt yield great service due to size.
