On this day in 1921, John Glenn was born in Cambridge, Ohio. Just 41 years later, he became the first American to orbit Earth, circling the planet three times aboard Friendship 7.

You've probably heard about the UK's attempt to add a backdoor to iOS encryption but... Did you know Google secretly installed a new form of spyware on Android devices a month ago? Users were not notified and many are reporting the Android System Safety Core reinstalls itself. https://www.zdnet.com/article/a-new-android-feature-is-scanning-your-photos-for-sensitive-content-how-to-stop-it/

Let's do it! No child should go hungry. Beyond the moral victory of feeding the needy, it is practical. Kick out the scummy private corps forcing hungry kids into lunch debt. If you're spending millions to run the schools, pay teachers, etc children should be able to focus on the lessons and not their hunger. https://www.news5cleveland.com/news/politics/ohio-politics/ohio-lawmakers-propose-making-breakfast-lunch-free-at-schools

How are normies supposed to use this platform when @colin determines who can post in /food? Why even call it a decentralized social network at that point? @ted please save us You're telling me 1 MAN gets to decide what food we can talk about?!

I am so glad Farcaster exists. I've been chasing decentralized social networks for years. I used Peepeth but it was too early. I used Lens but the design was too clunky IMO (ex. follows as NFTs) Farcaster feels like it is doing everything right and the influence of its builders and communities can't be denied. I don't know who needs to hear this.. If you're storing over $1B in ETH, consider using a multisig with timelocks and only on dedicated, isolated hardware. Think about it is all I'm saying.

😫 Fuck. I fucked up my Ohio streak last night by deleting and reposting to fix a typo. FC is cruel like that sometimes.

On February 18, 1815, the Treaty of Ghent officially took effect, marking the end of the War of 1812 and securing Ohio’s place in American history as a crucial battleground in the fight for national sovereignty. Ohio wasn’t just a place where the war was fought and won—it was the place where America’s future was secured.

Technically, Ohio was illegally operated for 150 years. When Ohio was admitted to the Union in 1803, Congress forgot to approve its state constitution. It wasn't officially ratified until President Eisenhower signed a resolution in 1953.

Ohio Caverns was discovered by a farmhand in 1897 after noticing a sinkhole on a farm. Inside these caverns lies the Crystal King, one of the largest and most perfectly formed stalactites in the United States at over 5 feet long and approximately 400 pounds; it's estimated to be more than 200,000 years old.
