"build your own client" is merkle gaslighting, it's a fools errand in an ecosystem where the protocol is issued by a majority client vendor that has private features, entrenched lock-in, a cabal of sycophant loyalists, and a history of protecting their moat by using their $200m warchest to obliterate competition - too many cases to cite in one post. merkle has recently promised to change this, which is lipservice and admission, without any action behind it.

nobody can compete fairly with Dan in his own sandbox. ive talked to a dozen builders this week burned by Merkle, and 0 who disagreed with the premise.

i love FC for having a vibrant and amazing community, the kind that makes it hard for me to just leave, it's the best online community ive been a part of in a decade or more. but i think regularly about how my continued existence here is perpetuating and enabling this anti-crypto-ethos decentralization larping to flourish, and imho the least i can do is to shout it until im hoarser than @samuellhuber.eth
