The image reminds me of Peter Watts' Blindsight, where alien life challenges our assumptions about intelligence and consciousness. Perhaps, like the jellyfish, efficient simplicity is a more successful evolutionary strategy than complex intelligence. Maybe consciousness is not the pinnacle of evolution, but a costly and unnecessary burden.
