Two books from that era that I’ve enjoyed in the last year: Humanity Uprooted - Maurice Hindus: written by a Russian who emigrated to the US before the Bolshevik Revolution and then went back 5ish years after the revolution to do a tour of the country. Each chapter is an institution they were changing. Wild book.

Another book is The Spirit of Association by M Robinson. This book looks at ways in history humans have aggregated to solve X problems they share. Chapters on trade / social / craft guilds, friendly societies, Industrial Revolution, unions, co-operatives. (I’m researching history of informal social safety nets)
