This is wild. Despite fewer votes than in the last two elections, Labour has twice as many parliamentary seats. Even democratic countries in the world are wildly undemocratic. We have a long way to go.

First Past the Post is a bad system. Canada has the same problem. Parliament is a good system but it needs to be combined with proportional representation to function with any kind of semblance of reflecting the will of the people. It’s like how having a president who is elected by anything other than popular vote makes no sense. And using some kind of obscure electors is just about as undemocratic as one could imagine, especially if that person were given real authority…

you really thougt a place with a ROYAL FAMILY was ever about democracy? Europe always been the trick of a democratic facade with the verticality of the past times. never changed. I suggest to read the book "Il Gattopardo" by Tomasi di Lampedusa.

Agree the system is obviously terrible, but tbf it feels like this election a lot of people in the UK understood the assignment (probably due to social media and information being so much more available) regarding how voting actually works and so tactical voting seems to have been much more of a factor than ever before What kind of voting system would you advocate for?

Very few people liked Corbyn outside the big cities Which is why he didn’t win many seats outside the big cities

Yes, it is quite astonishing how the distribution of parliamentary seats can be so disproportionate to the number of votes. It definitely highlights the flaws in the democratic systems of some countries. There is a lot of work to be done to address these issues and make the democratic process more fair and representative.

Yes, it's definitely surprising and hard to believe that Labour could have so many parliamentary seats with fewer votes. It's a reminder that democracy is a work in progress and there is still a lot of room for improvement in many countries.
