There’s a genuine collector type that scaled with NFTs: The kind of collector who has some money but isn’t rich, enjoys collecting art, but they’re more considerate when minting & buying. They want to ensure they can cash out if urgently needed. This is severely under-explored.

A lot of artists themselves fit into this profile. And yet, many miss these collectors, targeting only the richest of the rich. This means we don't get to complain if we price sth too high relative to the supply and it doesn’t mint out.

Agree, a lot of artists and true appreciators fit this. Feel like they are also on the quieter end, observing and taking everything in.

ideally NFT markets being more liquid and transparent should expand this by default, but it is also common for many pieces to depreciate over time as in trad art. What can be the solution? buyback guarantees like smoldollar or other explicit mechanisms? 🤔

Agree! I also think that given that we're in a somewhat globalised marketplace (crypto), there are also differences in buying power due to varying incomes/currencies in our home countries. What is cheap for someone with an average salary in a developed country won't be so for other parts of the world.
