Visa to launch Ethereum-based asset tokenization platform Payment giant Visa has announced the creation of a new platform to help banks and financial institutions issue tokens backed by fiat currencies The new platform is called Visa Tokenized Asset Platform (VTAP) and will be powered by the Ethereum blockchain. VTAP will allow financial institutions to not only issue tokens, but also test their use in real-world scenarios. The platform is designed to facilitate the movement of real assets such as real estate and debt securities onto the blockchain. Banks will be able to use fiat-backed tokens to buy tokenized commodities or government bonds. In addition, smart contracts will enable financial institutions to create structured financial products. For example, customers will be able to use tokens to secure loans. That is, goods and assets tokenized on the blockchain will act as collateral.

This time they are introducing 1,000 pairs of co-branded Genesis sneakers that will be available exclusively on the STEPN GO platform. The sneakers come in four unique designs inspired by Adidas' most iconic running models. The event will take place from September 25, 8:00am UTC, through September 30, 8:00am UTC. Of the 1,000 pairs of Genesis Sneakers, 996 pairs will be available to enter the Raffle Mint, with the remaining four pairs being raffled off on Adidas' STEPN GO and ALTS platforms. The ticket price to enter the Raffle Mint is 10,000 GMT, which will be refunded if the entrant does not win.

I believe both assets will continue to grow, but ETH will overtake BTC in the next five years. The reason is simple. Bitcoin has a simple narrative (digital gold) that already has institutional players involved. Efirium has been the most influential blockchain in the industry in the last five, but is not fully understood. Since the market capitalization of ether is now much lower than bitcoin, Wall Street can get hold of a lot of ETH. They will do so and aggressively push the asset in the coming years.

The iPhone will have a crypto-payments feature Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire announced the integration of Tap to Pay contactless payment functionality with USDC into the iPhone. In iOS 18.1, Apple opened up the ability for developers to offer contactless transactions from their own apps using an NFC chip and a special Secure Element (SE) hardware module. Previously, this option was only available through Apple Pay and Apple Wallet services. In a subsequent post, Allaire provided more clarity on the upcoming functionality. According to him, Circle has no agreements with Apple, the company will use the NFC that has become publicly available. This will allow cryptocurrency wallets to use the chip for transactions. Circle's CEO noted that developers of a USDC-enabled iOS wallet will be able to create a user interface whereby a receiving device like a merchant or another iPhone will receive transaction information with a tap.

The remaining 11.5% is intended for traders, sticker creators and future project participants. Cryptocurrency exchange OKX announced spot trading of the DOGS token paired to USDT. It will start on August 20.

Binance announced the listing of cryptocurrency TON Binance, the largest crypto exchange by trading volume, has announced the listing of The Open Network (TON) for spot trading. The new asset has been assigned the Seed tag, which is used to categorize cryptocurrencies that are in the early stages of development. Over the past 24 hours, TON's price has risen by 6.3%, according to CoinGecko. The asset occupies the ninth line of the rating with a capitalization of $15.2 billion.

The new artificial intelligence-based tools will arrive a few weeks after the planned September release of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, the agency noted. In the meantime, software developers will get access to Apple Intelligence as part of the iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 beta this week Apple Intelligence includes a number of AI features like notification prioritization, web page summaries and voice notes, tools to improve writing, Siri updates and OpenAI's ChatGPT integration.
