Today’s announcement that Farcaster is now a fully permissionless protocol is a step towards a future of decentralized social networks that I believe will be better for users and other network participants. Here’s why.

The rise of modern social networking turbocharged the internet by lowering the barriers for users to become publishers & build an audience. But in today’s dominant social networking model, control & economic rewards flow mostly to the companies at the network center, not users, creators, & developers at the edges.

Farcaster is a harbinger of change to modern social networking. I also think it’s the best example of decentralized social too.

Couldn’t agree more. I can’t wait to see all the different tooling and clients that are developed on top of the protocol. Putting power in the hands of the users is going to allow such a diverse set of niche tooling to develop - which we’d never see when large corps are always designing for the majority.

Agree. your missing that users attention is limited. Creators success also dependents on the algorithm of the platform. This is still centralized. Effortless surfacing the right content based on user specified properties is the next thing

Social will be a killer app of web3. One question keeps revolving in my head is full copy of web2 network enough to win? Feels like we need a killer consumer mechanic enabled by web3. What do you think is the one?
