Artist and creator flight from X to Bluesky that's being reported, is it overblown? If it's not, why aren't they flocking here or nostr? Moment of reflection for farcaster and it's community.

bluesky is pretty mainstream because of the name behind it (Jack) it's also free, signup is straightforward, the interface is familiar, and they catered to personalities and journalists pretty early (Jake Tapper said "skeet" live on CNN a couple times, it was incredible) most other platforms (besides Threads, which is neutered toothless) have an element of technical difficulty to them social media refugees are also low-retention users. not ideal to market to them, as churn causes more churn bluesky is also both very dramatic and very silly, which makes it a more natural choice for normal people leaving X. farcaster has a more serious vibe and is still very crypto-aligned. the content here is good (imo), but too niche to attract and retain a broader userbase

Yeah, Jack is definitely the significant factor in my head too. Holy shit though, missed the skeet thing! All very good points. Low retention because they lose interest and go back to their comfy place? Or low retention because they move around too much? Technical hurdle is real. I think probably the biggest blocker to farcaster adoption, depsite the fact it's gotten loads easier in the last year. Content and niche. Yeah, that's one I'm struggling with. Content here is so great. For a very specific type. Crypto and creator bias is both farcaster's biggest strength and weakness at the same time. Fragmentation into niches is less of a concern because of the nature of farcaster itself, i.e. build your own client, filter what you want etc. But if the content doesn't expand beyond just this niche it doesn't really matter what's possible.
