Also does anyone else keep looking for ridiculous scenes from the book? So far I love the “rehydrate the masses!!” and am waiting for the crazy ant on tombstone scene 😂

I agree about the cultural revolution! Stylistically it could have been biased but seemed close to book otherwise. The visuals make you think about just how wild it all was.

Hmmm. Not sure how I feel about it. Are we going to leave anything un-filmed.

I thought so too! I feel like a lot might’ve gotten lost in translation in the book from Chinese to English, but the characters were so dry and annoying in the books. Here they have more depth

I love the trilogy and I am super excited! Watched 5 episodes tonight I think Netflix did a good job making all the characters more interesting than in the book?

The books had a very particular style of writing that I didn’t love, but they were so popular a few years ago that you should read them for the full experience. Not needed before watching the show though!

The books go in a more coherent timeline order, but they’re a lot slower - I’m liking this take on it in tv! The world building is crazy and the plot gets even more 🤯 with time btw 😂

Didn’t even know it was based on books!! I just started watching and I was hooked pretty quickly! Kind of confused but I like it
