That article makes me laugh every time I read it, because he argued Netscape made the worst mistake of all time by rewriting from scratch. That rewrite is what became Mozilla, which was fundamental in destroying IE's monopoly on web browsers. It's generally good advice, but the callout is historically incredible irony as the shining example of when a full rewrite goes right.
