I think they tried, but I’ve become immune. My spouse thinks I’ve ordered mace.

Overheard a middle aged white woman in a Thai restaurant ask for her dish to be spicy “like I’ve been to Thailand”. I assume that story had a similar ending.

I’m in the same boat. Asked for 11/10 spice level and they can’t believe it.  Then the food tastes like a 2/10
