back from japan and going through all the photos! also coincidentally am on the market for new skis and bindings π last day there was feeling frisky in 40cm of pow and dropped an extra large cornice at speed. one of my skis popped off and was lost to the mountain. Japan is the best though- nearby resort took all my info so fingers crossed they find & mail it to me in the summer! i was rocking shift bindings and am pretty sure the AFD shifted causing that ski to pre-release. I'd noticed some instability the day before but was suffering from pow-blindness. if you're also in them make sure to add the AFD to your pre-tour night checklist

what a view, that would be great if they actually shipped your ski back to you!

Had the same issue with the shifts. Switched to the ATK Raider 13 EVO pin binding, and it's been an absolute game changer. It's the only tech/pin binding with a DIN on both toe and heel piece, and has very few moving parts so it doesn't jam up in powder.
