Gattica is often cited as an example of this going wrong, and I do think gov control of this stuff is maybe icky.

That said, the part that often gets missed from Gattica is that the parents actively decided *not* to sequence for genetics, knowingly disadvantaging their son.

In that society, where genetic selection is already the norm and baked into everything in life, they’re basically anti-vaxxers
