Mindset I’m trying to embrace: You’re not going to do your best work every day (by definition), but that doesn’t mean you can’t get good work done every day. And if you stack enough good work, you’ll have something better than your best single workday pretty soon 🫡

Ultra related: Your pre-work process for specs and scoping out concrete ToDo’s for what you need to get done really help you stop wandering and execute if you have a case of “The Dumb” on any particular day 😂

This is exactly what Steven Pressfield wrote in the War of Art… read it Amateurs wait for perfection. Professionals do the work. Work compounds like interest. You can’t edit an empty screen or notebook to make it better.

I try to remember my “best” will look different each day. If I can give 100 and I give 100, I did my best. If I can only give 50 and I give 50, that is still my best for that day.

Best implementation I've done of this: show up at the gym daily, even if you don't work out for a second. "Show up" goes a long way.

Agree. We sometimes expect the best from ourselves every day and forget that even pro athletes whose whole life is focused on optimizing for performance also have bad days.

Solid advice. One of my fav things to do when I get stuck on something is to take a break and do something else and then come back to it later or the next day and almost always you can solve the problem. So don’t be so hard on yourself, brain needs breaks to piece things together properly.

I've moved to, just do one big thing a day. you can define big. Measure yourself over x-days, not one day also work isn't the only thing that drives impact either. Humans = complex systems. rest or chilling or doing nothing on one day might = better performance on the other days aka Work like a Lion 🦁 GM 🫡

I'd have to say I agree with this mindset. Besides, consistently doing good work is a stepping stone to consistently doing great work.
