Definitely agree with that - my interpretation of this issue isn't that everything needs to be saved, but the fact that until very recently basically nothing could be "canonically" saved in a credibly neutral way.

Inb4 someone mentions arweave or filecoin. Those are cool but for now the plain old Internet Archive is the gold standard

IDK about that. Ethereum is powerful, but archiving petabytes of old text and images for posterity is not what blockchains do best.
