Completely agree. Related: one of the bets the FC team is making around decentralized social is pay-per-use rather than unlimited everything. Users having to pay for storage means less spam. Users paying for channels could mean more curated content over the long term. This kinda stuff makes me wanna create!

It’s new to me because I’ve never interacted with creator-led channels, only with Reddit-like channels where mods are glorified janitors who are individually fungible. The channels I’ve created are like this; they don’t relate to nor depend on me at all. I’ll be interested to see how creator channels play out

You mentioned me, but I’ve never actually had a formal community around my blog. There have been FB groups related to the conference I started, and adjacent things I helped start like the yak collective, but I think the idea of creator-centric community structures is toxic. The focus should be an idea, never a person

There’s a very similar phenomena in telegram - expert, brand, personal channels. Huge growth in the last 2-3 years on Russian-speaking market. Makes me very positive about FC channels too.
