I can't tell you the number of times I played poker with someone, and I would think to myself, "WTF does this person do for a living? I need to get into that." Hours later, I would find out that they were a doctor, lawyer, astrophysicist, or, in one case, a literal rocket scientist. You can be smart and not be good at poker. You can also be a dummy AND be good at poker. Poker is for everyone.

For me, being good at something means winning. I havenโ€™t seen a single unintelligent person who is good at poker, i.e., winning. Everyone can gamble and maybe get lucky sometimes, but in poker, if you play long enough and arenโ€™t intelligent, youโ€™re going to lose everything. I believe poker can be fun for everyone, but for serious play, intelligence is essential

If I had to pick a profession that would translate well to poker, I'd go with service industry
