Have been working for around 6 years now , mostly with early stage startups (seed to series C)
I have observed  rampant favouritism ,sycophancy and politics at play 

Is there any way to avoid it ?

Even in early stage companies , once the number of employees reach the higher side these things start to happen  1/n
