Here is my comment about Vitalik's Simplifying the L1 idea: What Vitalik Proposes *Minimize L1 complexity: Reduce the number of features and responsibilities handled directly on L1. *Push complexity to L2s: Let rollups and Layer 2 solutions handle scalability, execution innovations, and many advanced use cases. *Focus on verification and data availability at the base layer. Why It Makes Sense Security First: A simpler L1 has fewer attack surfaces and is easier to audit and secure. Long-Term Upgradability: A modular Ethereum is more future-proofā€”it's easier to update L2s than hard-fork the base layer. Decentralization: Running a full node becomes easier if the chain is simpler, helping Ethereum stay decentralized. Scalability via Rollups: With danksharding and blob data availability, L2s can be massively scaled without bloating L1. So i think, Vitalikā€™s approach is visionary and pragmatic.
