It’s not as bad as it sounds. It’s 66.7% of your gains over $250k are taxed, NOT taxed at 66.7%. 33.3% are untaxed, 66.7% are taxed at your marginal tax rate. It’s still better than 100% of your gains being taxed, but not as good as the “only 50%” it was.
