Every time I log into my Wordpress site, I just hate it. It’s so convoluted and the number of clicks and decisions I have to make to post really sucks. I have over 20 years of posts so migrating elsewhere feels too big, but I want to.

One other thing I could consider is paying $40/yr for Ulysses, which has native publishing and even seems to allow for updating of posts once they’re published. I can just bypass the WordPress dashboard all together.

Well, it probably took me longer than someone with more experience, but I spun up an Ubuntu server on Vultr last night at like 11:30 and by 01:30 I had Ghost installed. Going to mess around and see if I like it. Feels like it could work tho I don’t trust myself to have the ability to fix if something goes wrong.

i only used wp briefly and stopped back in the late 00s i think. it just always felt bloated and clunky to me (for personal blogging/cms.) i was also building websites for ppl and they always requested wp even tho they didn't need it. around that time, i was getting more interested in minimalist cms and static sites

Former Wordpress blogger here (10 years). I had self-hosted and hosted blogs there. Left for reasons similar to what you describe. I know @paragraph recently launched a one-click migration tool for WP sites, and I love the Paragraph editor. Something to consider...? https://warpcast.com/colin/0x26d607cd

Have you considered Squarespace? I’ve migrated my portfolio from WP to Squarespace and never looked back.

What emerges as the new WP in the age of AI? Will people want to read blogs? Or query your “agent”?

What are you using in terms of theme and plugins? Block editor has come so far; if you happen to be using one of the classic page builder plugins like Elementor, it’s worth exploring whether you can get rid of any legacy plugins.
